Laboratory Technician (41469)

**Role Type**: 12 months Full time contract
**Salary**: $57,799 - $60,136 p.a plus super

**Location**: Parkville

Opportunity for versatile laboratory work and to assist in improvements of processes and efficiency in laboratory testing within the Diagnosis and Development laboratory and to collect and manage data for two initiatives recently funded by the Genomics Health Futures Mission and the National Health and Medical Research Counsil.
Integral role to help the laboratory to develop systems and collect data in collaboration with groups external to the Murdoch Children’s Research institute needed to fulfil grant requirements and to disseminate findings to the scientific community in a reasonable timeframe.

**Your responsibilities include**:
Working with senior personnel to develop novel data management systems and general data while working within a large team of researchers team using: (i) high resolution melting DNA methylation analysis; (ii) digital PCR second tier testing and other resources, (iii) immunohistochemistry
Maintaining basic laboratory and administrative skills
Maintaining laboratory stock inventory and ensure that stocks are kept in supply
Knowledge sharing in specialised laboratory techniques

**What we need from you**:
Certificate or Diploma in a related field
Demonstrated ability to maintain high quality work output while managing competing priorities
Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
Excellent data entry skills including high attention to detail and data accuracy
Demonstrated general knowledge and experience with utilising computer data base systems
Experience with the following laboratory techniques is preferrable, but not essential: (i) high resolution melting DNA methylation analysis; (ii) droplet digital PCR and (iii) immunohistochemistry.
