**Salary**: $65,612 - $80,489 per annum + superannuation

**The opportunity**:
We are seeking a dedicated Laboratory Technician to join our team. As a Laboratory Technician, you will join a dynamic and collaborative team comprising clinical variant curators, clinical bioinformaticians, laboratory technicians and scientists, clinical geneticists, genetic counsellors, and research scientists. You will report directly to the Team Leader of R&D and may also work in the Sequencing or DNA Extraction labs as needed.

**Key Responsibilities**:
Assist with wet lab components of R&D projects.
Focus on Next Generation Sequencing, Long-read Sequencing, and other molecular techniques.
Adapt to the evolving priorities of VCGS and MCRI.
Work independently and as part of a team.
Participate in a rotating (on-call) roster for after-hours and weekend work, if required

**What we need from you**:
A passion for genetics and genomics with an Associate Diploma/Diploma/BSc in Biological Sciences or similar
A minimum of 3-4 years’ experience in wet lab techniques, particularly in sequencing technologies.
Understanding of specimen reception and patient information.
Extensive hands-on experience in a wide range of sequencing (NGS, long-read sequencing, etc.) and molecular genetic techniques and technologies
Flexibility to adapt to varying project demands
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
