Place Management NSW (PMNSW) is responsible for Sydney’s most historically and culturally significant waterfront locations. These responsibilities include the care, protection, management and promotion of this land and its important buildings.

Our Major Venues team are on the lookout for passionate and experienced** Interpretation Officers** to provide ongoing customer service and support in delivering a first-class visitor experience to ensure the Chinese Garden’s positioning as a premier cultural attraction. This role is responsible for delivering a first-class visitor experience as 'friendship ambassadors' for the Chinese Garden of Friendship. Supporting best practice principles in face-to-face interpretation across all aspects of visitor servicing to contribute to the garden's positioning as a premier cultural attraction and venue of choice.

As an **Interpretation Officer**, you will:

- Develop and maintain thorough knowledge and understanding of the Chinese Garden’s history and cultural significance and assist in the effective delivery of interpretative programs including daily tours, workshops and festival events for visitors
- Deliver excellence in face-to-face interpretation across all aspects of visitor servicing to create a high quality and memorable experience for all visitors
- Assist in the effective delivery of interpretive programs for Garden visitors in order to engage visitors with the culture and heritage of the Chinese Garden
- Deliver interactive interpretive programs in a range of media where required, to enhance the visitor experience
- Maintain a sound knowledge of the Chinese Garden's interpretation strategy and action plan in order to understand how the position contributes to the delivery of an effective face-to-face interpretation platform
- Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge and understanding of the Chinese Garden's history and content (eg: interpretive themes, stories and topics of cultural significance)
- Manage, handle and process transactions relating to visitor admission and venue hire bookings
- Contribute to a process of continual improvement across all aspects of service delivery and visitor experience at the Chinese Garden
- Assist with a variety of administrative duties which may include data entry, programs, functions and venue hire bookings, and recording of visitor feedback comments and ratings in order to capture information relating to the visitor experience
- Maintain the overall presentation of the garden and identify and promptly report any issues
- Effectively manage large crowds during periods of especially high visitation to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all visitors

**About You**
- Demonstrated strong customer service experience
- Have the ability to work flexibly and maintain a collaborative approach with team members and stakeholders
- Previous experience in administration support service with an eye for detail
- A professional, honest, and ethical approach
- Mandatory working with children check is required
- Intermediate level computer skills in experience using MYOB Kounta technology, TRIM

**Essential Requirements**
- A current Working with Children Check (WWCC) is an essential requirement for this role. The role has been identified as requiring this check in line with the Child Protection (Working With Children) Act 2012.
