**The Role**
The Executive Officer leads a team within the Office of Assistant Secretary of Program Management and Governance AS PM&G to deliver professional outcomes across Service Delivery Division or Program Management and Governance Branch. The Executive Officer provides a high level of administrative and strategic support to AS PM&G.

The Executive Officer is accountable under limited direction to perform and achieve complex administrative support within an integrated workforce and exercise a high degree of discretion, judgement, strategic awareness and professionalism.

Duties will include:

- Coordinate the development and preparation of high quality advice for a range of Ministerial, parliamentary and media correspondence.
- Create and foster high functioning networks and relationships with Ministerial and Executive Coordination and Communication Branch, wider Defence and also withinSDD and SEG, to ensure prompt and appropriate action is taken.
- Work closely with the Assistant Secretary and stakeholders to ensure priority matters are actioned appropriately.
- Prepare, coordinate and proof complex or sensitive correspondence, including corporate documentation, submissions, talking points, briefing papers and senior committee papers.
- Liaise with senior internal and external stakeholders in relation to complex or sensitive matters.
- Have awareness of the broader strategic environment in order to provide quality advise and oversight of the broader business environment.
- Provide strategic advice to the Assistant Secretary about divisional/branch matters and ensure they remain informed and aware of issues requiring attention.
- Provide leadership to the office team to deliver results by motivating, guiding and developing staff and identifying opportunities to enhance team performance.

**About our Team**
The Office of Assistant Secretary Program Management and Governance is the co-ordinating office for the Branch, inclusive of governance, management, advice to the Assistant Secretary, prioritisation, and all internal and external tasking or requests for information The office is staffed with two other personnel who support the Assistant Secretary in the performance of their roles and responsibilities.
- Demonstrated experience providing high level support to Senior Executives.
- Demonstrated ability to achieve results, manage multiple priorities and respond flexibly in a high tempo environment.
- Demonstrated experience coordinating the development and preparation of high quality advice for a range of Ministerial, Parliamentary and Media correspondence.
- Strong attention to detail, ability to exercise sound judgement and highly developed administrative, planning and organisational skills.
- Ability to think strategically, solve complex problems and build stakeholder relationships.
- Ability to provide support with the highest degree of integrity and discretion.
- Experience engaging across stakeholder groups to achieve outcomes and build strong networks and relationships across the department.
- Highly developed oral and written communication skills and the ability to present information in a clear, concise and articulate manner.
- Understanding of the operations of the division, knowledge of ministerial and parliamentary processes or the ability to quickly attain this.
- Ability to scrutinise and review the quality of the broader work considered by your principal.
- Capacity to work calmly under pressure and adhering to the APSC values.
