As well as a proven ability to work collaboratively within a team environment

SC3 Proven experience in leading teams and disability inclusion initiatives resulting in better outcomes for young people and families.

SC4 Co-ordinate relevant professional development activities to enhance staff knowledge and understanding of students with specific learning or behavioural difficulties.

**Role**:
Disability Inclusion Leader

The Victorian Government has invested significant funds to support students with disabilities. Disability Inclusion reform introduces a tiered funding model to ensure all students can access their learning and experience success.

At Fawkner Primary School the Disability Inclusion Leader will play a key role in the school's transition to Disability Inclusion, this will include co-ordinating Disability Inclusion Profile meetings, and supporting teachers to identify students who may benefit from a profile meeting. As part of the school leadership team, they will support the use of Disability Inclusion funding to resource evidence-based reasonable adjustments, for individual students and cohorts of students. They will also work collaboratively with external services outside the school including liaising with Health and Well-Being Key Contacts and external therapists. Our Disability Inclusion Leader will play a key role in coordinating the team around the learner.

The Disability Inclusion Leader will lead the implementation, management and monitoring of the school's approach to Disability Inclusion. The role will oversee significant resources and funding and provide expert advice to the Leadership team on the strategic direction of Disability Inclusion.

**Responsibilities**:
In recognition of the importance of leadership and management combined with exemplary teaching practice for improved student learning outcomes, the key roles of the Disability Inclusion Leader may include but are not limited to:
**Overall**

Leading and managing the implementation of whole-school improvement initiatives related to the school strategic plan and school priorities

Leading and managing the imlementation of whole-school improvement strategies related to curriculum planning and delivery

Leading and managing professional development and developing individual and team development plans for teaching staff within the priorities of the school

Teaching demonstration lessons

Promote the implementation of all aspects of Disability Inclusion at the school

Prioritise resources and the needs of students with disabilities and additional needs

Work with the school leadership team to ensure our Disability Inclusion program is aligned to the School and Department policy and guidelines.

**IEPs**

Support teachers to develop targeted IEPs, consistent across the school

Coach and build staff capacity to understand and implement quality IEPs

Ensure the student has a voice in setting learning targets during the IEP process

Determine whether other students with additional needs could benefit from an IEP

Review school processes for student support, personalised goal setting and IEPs

Oversee IEPs across the school, and ensure the school meets requirements for students who are required to have an IEP.

**External Providers**

Collaborate with external providers (NDIS) working in the school to deliver adjustments to students.

**Culture**

Advocate for students with disabilities and additional needs, and work with school staff to develop and implement supports

Support students with a disability and additional needs to make a smooth transition to school, ensuring there are effective arrangements in place and efficient transfer of information between services and schools

Promote a culture of high expectations and aspirations for the learning of students with disabilities or additional needs

Embed inclusion and disability expertise in strategic planning and recruitment practices of the school

Embed evidence-based inclusive education and human rights obligations into school policies and plans.

Ensure disability inclusion profile meetings are booked for all students who require profile meetings

Liaise and support school staff to inform the student and parent/carer(s) in regard to disability inclusion profile meetings
