The Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) is the lead agency under the Stronger Communities Cluster. DCJ works to enable everyone's right to access justice and help for families through early intervention and inclusion, with benefits for the whole community. **Your role**

The role of Commissioner (Deputy Secretary) Corrective Services NSW reports directly to the Secretary of DCJ and is accountable for the leadership and management of the Corrective Services NSW.

The Commissioner leads and manages the overall operation of Corrective Services NSW (CSNSW), including the delivery of a range of justice services and programs across the State. The role will also lead the transformation of CSNSW to implement strategic outcomes to enable the safety and security of CSNSW staff and people under the supervision of the agency both within custody and the community.

CSNSW is to deliver major change to enable rehabilitative environments that motivate and promote disengagement from crime through investing in staff and leaders to improve cultural capability and reduce reoffending outcomes. Major work and change are required to close the gap and reduce the overrepresentation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in custody and reduce the number of unnatural deaths in custody towards zero. Action is also to be taken to address recommendations arising from the Astill Inquiry, including leading any future reform into CSNSW.

**What we’re looking for**
- Be an astute, executive leader with experience across diverse operations in a large scale, complex service delivery environment. Experience within corrective services and/or government will be highly regarded.
- Be experienced in developing divisional strategies and plans whilst considering overarching organisational and government policy, guidelines, strategies and financial plans.
- Demonstrate the capability to foster a positive, constructive culture that encourages high performance while supporting the safety and wellbeing of the team.
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant area.
