Agriculture Victoria Services Pty Ltd (AVS) has delivered over thirty-six years of service excellence to the Government of Victoria to help improve the productivity and competitiveness of Victorian agriculture and related local industries by commercialising the research and innovation of the Agriculture Victoria Research division (AVR) of the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA). AVS is a private for-profit company incorporated under the provisions of the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth). The Victorian Government beneficially owns 100 percent of the Company’s issued capital, with the shareholder being represented through the Minister for Agriculture.
- Strategic and future-focused leadership opportunity, optimising and maximising the commercial value and impact of research, innovation and technology for the benefit of Victorian agriculture and related industries.
- Key member of Executive team: bring together your skills in science, IP and commercial analysis to formulate, critically assess and progress commercialisation strategies.
- Mentor and guide existing team members on business case development, portfolio management and project structures.
- Build strong partnerships across a complex stakeholder environment to deliver greater commercialisation outcomes.

**The Position**

Agriculture Victoria Services Pty Ltd (AVS) is a specialist, professional company responsible for protecting and commercialising novel technologies created by the Agriculture Victoria Research branch (AVR) of the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA).

The primary purpose of the Head of Strategic Initiatives is to provide high quality services and advice to the AVS Executive and Board, including the establishment of improved AVS investment and business processes, the preparation of specific complex business cases and the provision of advice on the most efficient models for achieving optimum impact.

The role requires the ability to forge and maintain effective partnerships with the AVS Executive and senior team who will work alongside this resource.

The role complements the ongoing work of the AVS Commercialisation team by providing advice on:

- Business case development and evaluation
- Investment portfolio management processes
- Major project structuring to deliver optimum ROI for the benefit of Victoria
- Investment attraction activities

**The Organisation**

Agriculture Victoria Services maximises the commercial value and impact of Agriculture Victoria's research & innovation, so that Victorian agriculture and related industries are strong, innovative, and sustainable.

The Victorian Government looks to AVS to work with AVR to ensure the output of its' research are optimised, where appropriate, by commercialisation of IP and scientific capabilities. In this way AVS helps the government to meet its objectives - by providing expert IP management and commercialisation services; commercial research and innovation collaboration services; and technology investment services that maximise the adoption and impact of AVR research outputs and capability. AVS provides an impartial commercial interface with the private sector to enhance and expedite route-to-impact for the research outputs of AVR, for the benefit of Victorian agriculture and related local industries.
