Why this role matters
Access Point provides an immediate response to those experiencing primary homelessness. The team undertake assessments and where suitable and available refer to Housing Support Agencies to address complex needs.
The Access Point is the doorway to accessing the homelessness service system for people experiencing homelessness, at risk of homelessness or impacted by homelessness and provides an immediate response to those experiencing primary homelessness.
Private Rental Assistance Program (PRAP) provides support to people to maintain their current private rental tenancy or to assist people moving into a private rental tenancy.
About the role
We currently have an exciting opportunity to lead the provision of high-quality service delivery within the Access Poin and PRAP Assistance Program in Sunshine, Victoria. This role also leads the Private Rental Assistance Program (PRAP).
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead a team of experienced Initial Assessment and Planning Workers to undertake assessments and where suitable and available refer to Housing Support Agencies to address complex needs
- Monitors the Prioritisation Wait list to allocate resources appropriately
- Support the Senior PRAP worker, and team to ensure the smooth running of the program
- Coordinate and Manage the Access Point in line with the Opening Doors Framework.
- Provide regular supervision of all IAP team members and the Senior PRAP worker as well as day to day support, coaching and mentoring
- Monitor the allocation of the Housing Establishment Fund and PRAP Brokerage in accordance the DFFH Guidelines
- Build and maintain positive collaborative relationships within The Salvation Army (TSA) and partner organisations, and other agencies and service sectors
Reporting to the Manager Homelessness, Western Metro this is a maximum term, full-time position, to May 2024. This position is located in Sunshine however there are outposts to the Melton, Kirrip and Oz-Child.
Salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010, Level 6.

You will have
- Tertiary qualifications in Social Work or related community service field (desirable)
- Experience in managing staff and providing supervision
- Demonstrated knowledge of homelessness including context, causes, issues, philosophies and legislation
- Understanding and applies homelessness models, approaches, theories and practices when dealing with clients
- Ability to understand and respond to the needs of individuals experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness
- A current Victorian Drivers Licence
- A valid and current Employee Working with Children Check
- Willingness to undergo a national police record and work eligibility check
