South Coast Gippsland Corps is a community-focused church, partnering with the wider community to help transform one life at a time with the love of Jesus. This is achieved through Sunday Worship Services, Community Support and Emergency Relief, Thrift Shop engagement, and small groups.
About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Community Engagement Coordinator. This role will be instrumental in supporting the South Coast Gippsland Corps. The Co-ordinator creates meaningful connections and engagement with local community, building support for the achievement of The Salvation Army mission in alignment with Corps strategy.
Responsibilities include
- Develop and implement a comprehensive community engagement strategy
- Coordinate and facilitate community partnership meetings, groups, and events with internal and external community partners
- Coordinate community activities and in consultation with Corps Officers develop new and innovative community engagement activities as part of the local community engagement strategy
- Manage Thrift Shop managers and community engagement volunteers which includes their recruitment, induction, training, and development activities
- Undertake finance and site related operational tasks relating to the running of the Corps sites and Community Engagement activities
- Coordinate the Positive Lifestyle Program and other courses and collaborate and support Corps Officers with fundraising activities
- Plan budget for regional community engagement activities
- Communicate community engagement activities, information, and events through appropriate channels such as MS Teams, social media, and other collaboration and marketing platforms
This is a permanent part time position 30.4 hours per week (4 days). Travel will be required between Leongatha, Wonthaggi and other services within the region as required. Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Award Level 4.
You will have
- Tertiary qualifications in Community Services, Social Work or related field, or equivalent experience
- Demonstrated experience in running community engagement activities and events on behalf of a religious institution or not-for-profit organisation
- Demonstrated leadership abilities in managing staff and in empowering them in their mission work
- A strong customer service focus with the ability to engage with a diverse range of people respectfully and effectively
- Demonstrated ability to understand and communicate with community partners and community members
- Sound administration and computer skills with demonstrated proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite
- A current VIC Drivers Licence
- Valid VIC Employee Working with Children Check
- Willingness to undergo a national criminal history and work eligibility check
