5. Ability to accept and implement instructions and to complete designated tasks, without supervision

Position Purpose_**

The role of a Library Resource Manager is to provide a high level of support to the staff, the student body and parents that reflects 21st Century Learning. Provision of high quality resources and equipment to enhance and support student learning is a key component of this service. The Librarian’s role will mostly be concerned with running the day to day services in the Library. To empower Library users to be thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skilful researchers and ethical users of information

The role requires:_**
- Managing the Library/Resource Centre and its resources and equipment
- Ensuring the goals and practices of the Library align with school wide strategic goals and plans.
- Manage the Library’s budget.
- Cataloguing of fiction and non-fiction collections.
- Supervision of Library Technician and volunteers.
- Supervision of students (as directed by College Principal).
- Overseeing the roster of the circulation desk duty.
- In-depth knowledge of copyright, fair use, and licensing of intellectual property particularly digital resources. Ensure school community are using information ethically and legally.
- Encouraging student participation in literacy events such as the Premiers’ Reading Challenge and Book Week (Readers’ Cup).
- Oversee/manage stocktaking including running the reports.
- Participation in and contribute to Library programs.
- Organise, promote and run extra-curricular literacy activities such as PRC, Readers' Cup, Book Club, Lunchtime activities/ competitions, excursions, guest speakers and other Library programs.
- In conjunction with the publicity and marketing area, create material for displays/promotional material within the Library.
- Continue to update the Library’s online presence.
- Maintain close relationships with teaching staff to meet their individual curriculum needs with regard to high quality resources and ensure the Library’s collection adequately reflects their needs

**Responsibilities**:
Shared Management of Library
- Manage Library resources, equipment and have a clear understanding of budget processes
- To maintain the Library as an active, vibrant, orderly and efficient learning area of the Laverton P-12 College
- Preparation of resources for use.
- Co-ordinate the CRT resources as required
- Maintain a healthy and safe working environment.
- Ensure identified risks regarding equipment, resources and facilities are reported to appropriate OH & S personnel within the school
- Manage appropriate cataloguing and borrowing systems for resources, equipment and teaching aids that support Laverton P-12 College’s needs (System: Oliver)

**Student Support**
- Produce, promote and display relevant materials to students and staff which creates a welcoming learner-centred environment
- Provide opportunities for students to become resourceful, independent users of the Library
- Supervise small numbers of students in various study situations within the Library, as appropriate.
- Plan and conduct Library research skills tutorials for small groups of students as required
- Prepare equipment for teacher and student use
