The National Film and Sound Archive (NFSA) is the custodian of Australia’s analogue and born digital national audiovisual collection that contains almost 4 million items. Our mandate is to collect, preserve and share the remarkable story of the Australian audiovisual experience through the creativity and history represented in film, television, radio, recorded sound, augmented reality, online, videogames and associated contextual documentation and ephemera. Our primary focus is on Australian production and Australian related production.
**About the Digital team**
The Collection Digital Services team is responsible for digital preservation processes relating to the National Film and Sound Archive Digital Collection and Games and Interactive Media for the purpose of long-term preservation, distribution, and access.
The Collection Digital Services team requires a Collection Digital Services Officer with a proven track record of working with audiovisual digital objects in a broadcast, production or cultural environment. The position will support the Manager, Collection Digital Services in providing a range of services to assist in the processing of digital born material and implementing workflows for digitising analogue collection material including Quality Assurance and Quality Control, content verification, transcoding, data extraction and providing technical advice to staff and external stakeholders. A demonstrated strong customer focussed approach and commitment to achieving deadlines is required.
**Job Details**
Under limited direction undertake the following duties:
- Assist in processing incoming digital acquisitions including using tools and systems for automated and manual Quality Control, content verification and data extraction, and providing high-level technical advice to staff and external stakeholders from the broadcast and production industries.
- Test and evaluate equipment, systems and hardware/software to automate and support digital acquisitions and digitisation.
- Provide technical input into the development, implementation and documentation of efficient and effective digital preservation workflows to meet preservation, curatorial and access priorities.
- Assist in maintaining and updating NFSA’s digital collection and digitisation for preservation technical specifications to ensure our physical and digital preservation standards meet best archiving practice and the reuse needs of our customers.
- Work closely with other areas to identify and prioritise at-risk digital material and develop processes and plans to ensure ongoing preservation.
- Undertake appropriate administrative tasks and reporting including advising on resource planning and implications, drafting procedures, undertaking research and analysis, and input into project plans.

- A demonstrated knowledge of historical analogue audiovisual material, digital formats, postproduction techniques and digital delivery, in a broadcast, production or cultural context.
- Highly developed analytical skills and attention to detail with a solutions-based approach to trouble shooting and meeting deadlines in a face paced environment.
- Ability to develop, implement and document efficient and effective digital workflows in line with best practice standards, resources and priorities.
- Well-developed written and oral communication skills including presenting technical knowledge and expertise to a variety of audiences and stakeholders, and the ability to work individually and in a team environment.

- Relevant tertiary degree or technical qualifications and/or the equivalent experience in an industry, production and/or cultural environment.
**Eligibility**
To be eligible for this position you must:
- Pass an Australian Federal Police (AFP) Criminal Record Check.
Other eligibility requirements for this position may include;
- Obtain and maintain an Australian Government Baseline Security Clearance.
- Obtain and maintain a Working with Vulnerable People registration.
