Your Opportunity
- Open Doors

is an outreach counselling service that supports young people between the ages of 12yrs to 18ys living in Mirrabooka and surrounding suburbs, experiencing risk factors impacting their lives to achieve their goals.

Based in Mirrabooka you will work on a part time basis three days a week, using your skills and understanding of current youth issues and challenges to connect with young people building rapport and a relationship based on honesty and trust.

The goals identified by the young person may include strengthening family relationships, maintaining positive health and wellbeing, engagement with school and employment and connection to their local community.

Your Key Responsibilities
- Respond to referrals to the service from internal and external support services.
- Complete assessments and intake processes for allocated people, including all necessary paperwork and data entry.
- Work with young people to develop holistic and strength-based case plans identifying their goals.
- Utilise trauma informed, person centred support to vulnerable young people using culturally secure, and solution focused approaches.
- Create and maintain comprehensive individual case management files for all allocated young people in line with Mission Australia protocols.
- Provide advocacy and referral to appropriate services enabling young people to achieve their individual goals.
- Facilitate education groups and service information sessions for young people as required.
- Complete a range of other administrative duties for the efficient running of the service including statistics, reports, referral letters, goal plans etc.

Requirements for Success

With a significant background in the _child, youth & family, and homelessness_ sectors you will be confident in your case management and support and assessment processes. Other requirements include:

- A Degree or Diploma in Social Welfare/Social Science/Youth Work with a minimum of two years' experience in a similar role.
- Knowledge of child and adolescent development and child and youth safe practices.
- Well-developed communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to tailor communication appropriate to the audience.
- Ability to engage and provide support with young people experiencing risk factors in their life. This will require perseverance, flexibility, and innovation.
- Strong administration and report-writing ability.
- Comfortable working autonomously and working within a multi-disciplinary team.
- Must have Full driver licence with no restrictions.

Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications, and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.
