**About the role**:
In this role, you'll play a crucial part in delivering flexible, holistic, and culturally safe health services to Aboriginal clients, ultimately contributing to positive health outcomes and access to care for Aboriginal families.

As an Aboriginal Health Worker, you'll be at the forefront of client visits, making first contact and assisting with appointment scheduling. Your presence during visits will provide invaluable cultural support, ensuring that clients feel understood and respected. No two days will be the same in this dynamic role, offering a variety of tasks and challenges.

Advocacy and support for clients will be a key aspect of your responsibilities, empowering individuals to navigate the healthcare system effectively. With flexible working hours available, you'll have the autonomy to manage your schedule efficiently.

**Where you'll be working**:
Situated on beautiful Awabakal and Worimi Country, Birra Li services include culturally responsive and led Pregnancy and Post-birth Care, Cultural Support, Child and Family Health Care (blue book checks), Immunisation, Specialist Breastfeeding Support, Social Work Services, Health Education, and referrals to other services.
- Our diverse team of 23 includes Midwives, Child and Family Health Nurses, Social Workers, Aboriginal Health Workers, Aboriginal Health Practitioners, and Administration Staff.
- Based at Newcastle Community Health Service you’ll be joining a dynamic and innovative leadership/management team within the Maternity and Gynaecology Service.
- Travel to John Hunter Hospital and Community Health Service sites along with home visits will be required.
- Interacting with the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community and establishing strong relationships are central aspects of this role.
