In this pivotal role, the Assistant Director of the Technology Delivery Office will collaborate closely with the Director to shape strategic initiatives and oversee project portfolios.
**Responsibilities**:
- Assist the Director in setting strategic direction and priorities for project management initiatives aligned with organisational goals.
- Provide leadership and guidance to project managers and team members to ensure projects are executed effectively and efficiently.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement within the PMO.
- Oversee the development and management of project portfolios, including prioritisation, resource allocation, and budget tracking.
- Monitor project performance against established goals, metrics, and key performance indicators (KPIs), implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Conduct regular portfolio reviews to assess project status, risks, and dependencies, communicating findings to senior leadership.
- Drive continuous improvement of project management processes, methodologies, and tools to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Establish and enforce project management standards, policies, and governance frameworks across the organisation.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, industry standards, and best practices in project management.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for senior leadership and stakeholders on project-related matters, providing regular updates and insights.
- Facilitate communication and collaboration among project teams, stakeholders, and cross-functional departments to ensure alignment and transparency.
- Manage expectations and resolve conflicts to maintain positive relationships and support project success.
- Mentor and coach project managers and team members to build their project management skills and capabilities.
- Identify training and development needs within the PMO, coordinating opportunities for skill enhancement and career growth.
- Foster a supportive and inclusive work environment that promotes teamwork, accountability, and professional growth.
**Qualifications**:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in project management, with demonstrated leadership capabilities.
- Experience working in government or similar regulated environments is highly desirable.
- Proven ability to drive strategic initiatives and align project management efforts with organisational goals.
- Strong understanding of project management methodologies, tools, and best practices.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in mentoring and coaching team members to enhance their project management skills and capabilities.
