Black Star Pastry opened its first boutique patisserie in Newtown in 2008 and since then we have grown into an institution with stores across Sydney and Melbourne.

We are most famous for our Strawberry Watermelon Cake which has become a social media sensation, with the New York Times declaring it “the world’s most instagrammed cake.”

Currently based in Moore Park we will be relocating to a brand new, purpose-built HQ in Alexandria later this year.

**The Mission**:
Under the guidance of the Commercial Finance Manager, you'll be the backbone of our Accounts Payable function (about 60% of your week), as well as delivering top-notch support to the business while ensuring internal customer service is as bright as a star.

This role offers more than just a job; it's an opportunity to bring financial excellence to life and contribute significantly to Black Star Pastry's success.

A day in the life could include any of the following
- Mastering and reconciling accounts functions, including supplier statements and invoice cross-checks.
- Ensuring proper approvals before payments, managing external POS system data, and completing weekly payment runs.
- Excelling at bank and credit card reconciliations, and even managing Armaguard deposits - talk about versatility
- Supporting mid-month and month-end reporting with precise balance sheet reconciliations.
- Contributing to supplier contract oversight and sparking savings through market reviews.
- Pioneering strategies that slash input costs and challenge supplier terms.
- Anchoring solid procedures and controls for purchasing, receiving, and storing functions.
- Collaborating with business department managers on risk and compliance obligations.
- Elevating internal control improvements and smoother reconciliations.
- Offering a hand with general bookkeeping and accounting support across the business.
