The School of Psychology at UNSW is the leading Psychology school in Australia. It is located in the Faculty of Science and is recognised nationally and internationally for its excellence in research and teaching. It offers world class undergraduate psychology degrees, as well as postgraduate professional Masters training in Clinical and Forensic Psychology, an online Graduate Diploma program, and a PhD research program with over 120 students. 40 academic staff conduct experimental research in many areas of Psychology, including behavioural and cognitive neuroscience, perception, learning, memory and cognition, as well as health, social, developmental, clinical and forensic psychology. The Associate Lecturer - Education Focused will contribute to the effective operation of the academic team of the Master of Psychology (Forensic) program, undertaking teaching duties including lecturing, marking and tutoring, while also making a contribution to the UNSW Forensic Psychology Clinic (UFPC), supporting students in clinical placements.

The role of Associate Lecturer reports to the Program Director of the Master of Psychology (Forensic) program and has no direct reports.

**Specific responsibilities for this role include**:

- Demonstrate a well-defined teaching philosophy that inspires student learning.
- Conduct classes, assess student learning achievements and support students in line with UNSW policy and with guidance of more senior academics.
- Design and develop learning activities and resources, and assessment and feedback using a range of appropriate approaches and learning environments with the support of more senior academics.
- Contribute to the development of experimental approaches to teaching and learning led by more senior academics.
- Support learning progression with students as individuals (through such activities as one-to-one consultation) and as a cohort (through general course related advice) to achieve positive learning and employability outcomes for students.
- Manage course administration, including academic quality assurance.
- Maintain professional development in pedagogy, disciplinary knowledge and minimum professional accreditation requirements (where relevant).
- Make a positive contribution to School meetings and seminars and be a member of School/Faculty committees as required.
- Provide individual and group support to students of the Master of Psychology (Forensic) program within the UFPC by working with students to directly observe and guide student interactions with clients and during client related activities including individual therapy and assessment services, file review, routine outcome monitoring, psychometric testing and case and session notes.
- Manage student learning, provide learning opportunities and evaluate student development of core competences within the UFPC environment.
- Provide ongoing feedback to the Clinic Director regarding the clinic’s effectiveness in supporting attainment of the MPsychol (Forensic) program goals.
- Support the UFPC Clinic Director and facilitate functioning of the clinic through coordination of office administration, development of clinic protocols and resources and file and system maintenance as required.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders (e.g., CJP, Legal Aid, WDO, etc) to work collaboratively within and across multidisciplinary teams.
