Technical Systems Integration Manager - Sydney - Metro

A well known internationally recognised tier 1 major contractor is looking for a Technical Systems Integration Manager for all rail sub Systems & Civil / Tunnel packages on a Metro project in Sydney, Australia.

Project Overview
This metro project is part of Australia's biggest and most technologically advanced public transport project Once completed, this fully accessible, driverless metro train service will connect Greater Parramatta and the Sydney Central Business District.

The Metro will include nine stations and deliver rail services for the first time to communities, it will also provide faster, more frequent access to major employment at Parramatta and The Bays the vibrant sporting and entertainment precinct at Sydney Olympic Park and vital health and education services at Westmead.

Position Overview
The primary purpose of the role is to lead, drive, manage and deliver all project integration functions across the design, construction and handover of the major construction works for the project. This work is primarily to be delivered through a number of significant, high value contracts, all of which are essential works to support the completion of the railway over the duration of the project. The role provides high level professional guidance and expertise to ensure a world class rail system that achieves agreed objectives and best practice project, contract and asset management standards, on a commercially sound basis and to the satisfaction of the key stakeholders and the community.
The position makes a significant contribution to the strategic planning, management and delivery of the project.

About the Role
- Model good leadership to inspire direction and delivery, and develop people
- Provide executive management, leadership, stakeholder management and professional guidance in the technical delivery of the works from planning and design development, through construction to commissioning and operation
- Help ensure that the functional integration processes and procedures are implemented with particular focus on achieving integrated technical solutions across interfacing packages
- Monitor and control the work being conducted to help ensure contract compliance and the delivery of works to the required timing and performance outcomes, in accordance with safe work methods and practices
- Oversee change management across the contracts to ensure consistency and compatibility
- Develop and manage organisational plans, budgets and risk management plans and take a leading role in ensuring safety and quality is achieved across the project
- Pro-actively manage issues and risks as they arise taking account of whole of project requirements
- Review technical and commercial issues with the contracted providers and assist in providing integrated solutions including any required corrective actions to support delivery to program
- Analyse and control costs, review and improve project systems, processes and project wide key performance monitoring scheme, and report monthly on activities, performance, trends and issues against plans and budgets
- Coordinate and help establish suitable assurance processes to ensure successful handover of the major works to follow on contractors, in accordance with pre-agreed time, quality and documentation requirements and to support successful completion, commissioning and operation of the project
- Keep abreast of current and emerging best practice, Government policy and Statutory requirements

Qualifications and Experience:

- Degree level qualification in engineering/planning/construction/project management discipline from a recognised tertiary institution.
- Extensive experience in the leadership and management of developing and/or delivering major infrastructure works for rail and/or civil infrastructure projects including understanding project design and development, stakeholder management, procurement practices, construction practices and OHS regulations.
- Significant experience in the leadership of large teams, management of complex design and construction programs and projects including experience in the management of commercial contracts, agreements and deeds.
- Experience of the complete life cycle of project works from feasibility, through design and construction, and including completion and start-up into operation.
- This role is open to expatriates, a local contract will be provided and relocation support for a family.
