Reporting to the Children Ahead Program Manager, the Children’s Therapeutic Practitioner is a member of the Children Ahead Team.- This role is formally based in South Melbourne. We support our staff to work flexibly, both in location and hours, based on the premise that work will remain the focus of any arrangement. How and where you work is discussed with each staff member based on individual circumstances, role requirements and accountability for delivery of high-quality work.- The Children’s Therapeutic Practitioner is responsible for the delivery of outreach therapy and case management to children who have experienced significant trauma, violence or bullying. The Children Ahead program helps children by focusing on what they need to recover. The program provides a dual service to children, offering both a comprehensive case management service and strengths-based counselling to promote resilience and recovery. The Children Ahead program works collaboratively with relevant schools and agencies to make sure children and their families have the community connections needed for immediate and long-term support.**Major job responsibilities**
- Provide individual therapeutic support and case management to children within the program to promote their recovery from the effects of experiences of trauma, violence or bullying. This may include children and young people who have experienced significant:

- family or community violence
- developmental trauma as a result of abuse or neglect, or witnessing serious crime
- face to face and/or online bullying or harassment, including but not limited to experiences of having images shared online without consent or who have been groomed online.
- Provide efficient, professional case work consisting of intake, assessment, partnering with other services as appropriate, service provision, referral, review and closure including:

- holistic, trauma-informed case work incorporating child-centred, family and community focused interventions
- collaborative goal setting and case planning
- conducting assessments using a variety of child and family assessment tools.
- Foster collaborative relationships with key stakeholders, including schools, allied health professionals and others as appropriate.
- Maintain accurate and up to date client management and statistical records, including case notes.
- Participate in regular supervision and team meetings.
- Ensure skills and knowledge of research and clinical practice relating to children and violence, bullying, resilience and recovery are at cutting edge.
- Ensure up to date and accurate knowledge of relevant services available to Foundation clients.
- Proactive contribution to program development and improvement.
- Adhere to relevant Program Policies and Procedures, and legislation relevant to working with children and families.
- Developing long-term relationships with key internal and external stakeholders and organisations.
- Contributing positively to the Foundation’s culture of We are stronger together through developing and maintaining collaborative relationships with colleagues.

**Knowledge, experience & requirements**
- An appropriate tertiary qualification in social welfare such as Social Work or Psychology, with eligibility for membership of a professional organisation (ie. AASW or APS) or other qualifications suitable for practice in the child and family welfare field (essential)
