1. Demonstrated sound and safe working knowledge of hand and power tools and the ability to efficiently undertake general handyperson tasks, repairs, and maintenance to the interior and exterior of buildings and school ground works.

2. A strong work ethic and a sense of pride in efficiently completing work to a high standard and in a timely fashion.

3. The ability to work as part of a team or individually and to follow instructions.

4. Ability to communicate and cooperate effectively with tradespeople, suppliers and colleagues.

5. The ability to use the Department of Education, Asset Information Management (AIMS) data system.

**Applicants are required to address the selection criteria and provide three referees.**

**Role**:
This position will require attendance during school holiday periods. The position will have provision for 4 weeks annual leave per annum.

Objectives will, generally, be clearly defined; guidelines will be broad and day-to-day direction mínimal. Management responsibility extends to ensuring appropriate support levels are maintained across the school. Range 4 generally provides key support and timely advice to the leadership team and school council and liaises with the general school community, the Department and other government agencies and service providers.

Specialised professional roles will carry a high level of independence and accountability where suitable scope is provided to achieve objectives.

An education support class position supports the educational services being provided to students, but must not include duties of teaching as defined in clause 2.6.1 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic) or its successor. Supervision of students cannot be required except where it is an integral part of the employee's position or involves supervision of students individually or in small groups, in controlled circumstances, where the responsibility for students remains clearly with a teacher.

**Responsibilities**:

- Unlocking and opening all school buildings prior to start of school each day.
- Manage the use and maintenance of equipment within a work area.
- Ensure security is maintained within a work area.
- Evaluate and select equipment and materials and make recommendations to senior management.
- Develop procedures relating to the use and maintenance of equipment and materials.
- Coordinate the purchase of equipment and materials.
- Assist the school management team to ensure that all Department of Education Occupational Health and Safety and compliance requirements are met.
- Complete data entry relating to facilities management, routine maintenance and inspections in the Department of Education Asset Information Management System (AIMS).

Lilydale High School requires that our Facilities Manager/Groundskeeper/Maintenance be self-motivated, enthusiastic, show initiative and be capable of manual labour. They also need to be able to competently use power and hand tools, equipment, and machinery.

**The following is also required**:

- To possess and produce evidence of a current employee’s working with children’s check.
- To always work within the policies of Lilydale High School.
- To be aware of Occupational Health and Safety requirements noting that all duties must be carried out to comply with current OHS legislation.
- Able to work as part of a team or individually.
- Sound and safe working knowledge of hand and power tools.
- To have knowledge of and a keen personal interest in maintenance work.
- Basic mechanical knowledge to assist in minor repairs to gardening equipment.
- A current driver’s license.
- A current Working at Heights ticket.

**Duties and responsibilities**:
Building maintenance and repairs, including small carpentry, plastering, plumbing and painting jobs and other tasks that do not require a licenced tradesperson.

General cleaning, graffiti and rubbish removal as required.

Receive, assess, and prioritise maintenance requests as directed by the Assistant Principal in charge of school buildings and grounds.

Implement routine maintenance procedures as directed.

Ability to climb ladders to access roof spaces for the purposes of cleaning gutters and retrieval of sporting equipment.

Be capable in assisting in or solo movement of school furniture as required.

Perform good quality corrective and preventative maintenance work.

Garden and ground maintenance as required.

To ensure all equipment and machinery is stored securely and cleaned after use.
