**ABOUT THE ROLE**:
**Summary of the role**:The Patients Without Medicare Liaison Officer (PWMLO) role is responsible for identifying and assisting patients without Medicare in understanding their Private Health Insurance, out of pocket expenses and processing of their claims, as well as providing education and support to medical, nursing and clerical staff around these patients.

This role is also responsible for billing, supporting the Private Patient Liaison Officer, assisting staff with completion of paperwork, fund interpretation and answering general enquiries both internal and external.

The role actions Patients Without Medicare bookings by determining visa status, completing health fund checks, interprets the eligibility outcomes and advises patients by providing them with informed financial consent.

**ABOUT YOU**:

- Provide an excellent level of customer service putting people first, leading with kindness.
- Be a quick thinker and problem solver whilst adhering to best practice.
- Highly developed admin skills with accurate attention to detail and good knowledge of Australian Private Health Insurance funds.
- Be the first point of contact for the patient to empower them with knowledge about their episode of care, including out of pocket expenses, direct claiming and informed financial consent.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal, and able to liaise with all stakeholders (incl. Interpreters)
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
- Sound knowledge of asylum seekers, overseas students, overseas visitors and bridging visas.
- Efficient and effective time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
- Good computer and data base skills and knowledge of office based software packages (iPM, BOS, CPF, MS Office, Outlook)
- Enthusiastic, motivated, adaptable with a can-do attitude.
