Planning and Review supports Queensland Fire and Emergency Service (QFES) through a vision statement, Attain seamless operational interoperability throughout QFES'. Through analysis of a variety of tactical, operational, and strategic functions and consultation with relevant stakeholders with a focus on incident management capability readiness.

**Areas of responsibilities include**:

- Review and governance of directorate doctrine: - ensure that State Operational Coordination Branch doctrine available on the gateway are consistent, accurate and provides current information that incorporates industry best practice. Doctrine must reflect the needs of the broader QFES working together in partnership with the relevant stakeholders.
- Strategic operational contribiutions in State Operations Centre (SOC): - during heightened operational periods and when the SOC is activated and staffed, contribute to a variety of functional role positions reporting to the functional role lead.

Reporting to the Manager, Planning and Review, you will be responsible for coordinating and liaising with key stakeholders on incident management capability readiness to ensure ability to meet surge requirements throughout the state.

We are seeking Expressions of Interest from Fire and Rescue Service operational staff in conjunction with the current generic Station Officer role description (see additional information below).

Special requirements
- Continue to fulful the operations management duties/responsibilities of this rank.
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and provide good organisational and planning skills.
- Experience and working knowledge of the Operational Coordination System.

Primary duties

In addition to the generic Station Officer, Fire and Rescue Service role description, the purpose of the Planning and Review Officer, State Operational Coordination includes but is not limited to:

- Coordinate the review and development of policies, doctrine, programs and procedures arising from activations, exercises, and operational debrief activities that will impact on QFES operations.
- Ensure accurate information and support is provided to regions in regards to the management of incident management capability readiness.
- Review and report on SOC performance and contribution to functional roles during operational activations.
- Assist with SOC and incident management capability readiness related training and/or exercises as required.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders regarding disaster management research and development of operational capability and best practice with a focus on integration, improved information sharing and interoperability.
- Coordinate and prepare correspondence, reports and submissions as required, including to assist in the review and update of doctrine and policies with relevant stakeholders.
- Partiipate in project planning and management on existing and new projects relating to the SOC, including incident management capability readiness and electronic support systems.

Additional information
- Hold the rank of substantive Station Officer, however suitably qualified Senior Fire Fighter are encouraged to apply.
- Hold the Cert IV in Training and Assessment, or agree to achieve this qualification in a multually agreed time frame.
- Knowledge and/or experience in IT systems including Office 365 technololgy e.g. Sharepoint/ Teams/Power automate, would be an advantage.
- Incumbent's may be required to travel and work within the area of responsibility and may also be required to undertake intrastate and interstate travel.
- This is a day work position, yet may require flexible hours of work to meet functional demands.
- Officers appointed to this position may participate in a personal professional development programme developed in conjunction with their supervisor.
- Have a proven commitment to maintaining competencies and operating in a team environment.
