The Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) is an independent statutory authority established by the Australian Government to maintain an impartial and independent electoral system for eligible voters through active electoral roll management, efficient delivery of polling services, and targeted education and public awareness programs.

**The Team**

You will join the Indigenous Electoral Participation Program (IEPP) team. A team of enthusiastic and passionate people who are committed to ensuring eligible Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people can actively participate in our democracy. The team supports these opportunities by promoting in communities:

- Enrolment to vote, education sessions.
- Voting during electoral events.
- Opportunities to work during an electoral event

**The Opportunity**

You will play an important part in supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in Australian elections. You will be involved in every aspect of how culturally appropriate electoral services are planned, developed, and delivered in Queensland.

Your knowledge and expertise will help the IEPP to succeed in making Australian elections more accessible for First Nations people.

To excel you:

- You will be involved in ensuring culturally appropriate electoral services are planned, developed and delivered in Queensland.
- You will help to build and grow important partnerships for the AEC with, State Government agencies, Community based organisations and other local partners.
- Deliver voter education sessions and enrolment activities.
- Providing community engagement reports after each community visit to support AEC’s monitoring and evaluation of outcomes.
- Procurement of partners in Technology One and invoice payments.
- Program management and engagement of Community Electoral Participation Officer’s (CEPO) staff members in the IEPP team.
- Relationship management, with CEPO staff members, government agencies and community organisations.
- Understand local challenges to electoral participation, liaising with partners to arrange meetings with communities.
- Building and maintaining stakeholder relationships, both internal and external.
- Developing team skills and experience, developing other staff members, giving advice and guidance on their responsibilities.

**Eligibility**
- AEC employees must be Australian citizens.
- Any person who is, and seen to be active in political affairs, and intends to publicly carry on this activity, may compromise the strict neutrality of the AEC and cannot be considered.
- Applicants are required to consent to, undergo, obtain and maintain a character clearance.
- Applicants are required to consent to, undergo, obtain and maintain the security clearance required for this role.
