SSS Practitioner - Ongoing Full Time opportunity

The Department of Education is looking for skilled and passionate Occupational Therapists, Behavioural Analysts and Speech Pathologists to contribute to the important work of our Student Support Services (SSS) team in Wyndham in supporting schools to address the barriers that impact on student(s) access, preparation, and progress to achieving their educational goals and development potential.

Student Support Services aims is to assist children and young people facing a range of barriers to learning to achieve their educational and developmental potential through the provision of a range of strategies and specialized support at individual, group, and school levels.

Working in our Student Support Services team is deeply meaningful, highly rewarding, challenging, and dynamic and gives you the opportunity to make a positive contribution to the lives of children and young people, their families, schools, and communities. You'll work with a diverse group of people who share a common goal, and you will be well supported to use your professional skills and knowledge to provide specialised support at the individual, group, school, and area level. Our dynamic team comprises Speech Pathologists, Psychologists, Social Workers, Occupational Therapists and Speech Pathologists. You will also work with other Area and regional staff, such as, Education Improvement Leaders, Visiting Teachers, School Nurses and Professional Practice Leaders to improve learning and wellbeing outcomes in schools.
- You will have access to:

- Implementation of a range of innovative practice opportunities that help to meet all, some and individualised student need, e.g. Combination of consultation and direct work with students and teachers
- Working with teachers and school leaders to influence (system) change
- Access to up to date resources and technology

As part of an Area based multi-disciplinary health, wellbeing, and inclusion team, you will help build the capability of schools to support student achievement, engagement, and wellbeing. Also:

- Provide and facilitate capability
- building of schools with Tier 1 and Tier 2 interventions and programs.
- Support schools to develop high quality Individual Education Plans and Behaviour Support Plans that are based on data and functions of behaviour.
- In conjunction with schools, develop Educational Needs Assessments for students in Out of Home Care.
- Support schools in critical incident response and recovery.
- Assume the function of the Health and Wellbeing Key Contact for 3-4 schools in the Area.
