The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) is seeking to recruit an **Assurance Officer** for our Assurance and Corporate Planning Section.

**About the role**

The role’s primary responsibility is to support the Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee by:

- managing the Committee’s rolling work plan
- preparing meeting agendas and minutes
- monitoring action items
- organising meetings and meeting papers
- providing advice to presenters
- coordinating and quality reviewing meeting papers
- liaising with other committee members and the internal and external auditors
- membership administration (including contracts and payments)
- monitoring the Committee budget.

You will work closely with the Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee to ensure the Committee is able to successfully conduct its annual schedule of six meetings. Meetings will normally be held in person, in Canberra, however virtual meetings may be used on occasion.

The role will also involve support to the Assistant Director in the provision of advice to employees on Conflict of Interest and Trading Restrictions Policy. No prior knowledge of these policies is required.

To be suitable you should have most, or all, of the following skills, qualities, and experience.
- Required_
- high-level coordination skills
- very good interpersonal skills and the confidence to deal directly with stakeholders of varying levels
- a strong commitment to on-time delivery of outputs
- high-level written communication skills
- an ability to commit to availability for a planned annual meeting schedule requiring in-person attendance in Canberra.
- Desirable_
- experience supporting a senior committee, board, or other governance body
- experience working as part of virtual team, including reporting to virtual managers
- experience working in a corporate office environment
- an understanding of the operations of the ABS
- experience with the Parliamentary Document Management System.
