**About our Unit**:
UNSW Canberra offers a diverse suite of degree programs at undergraduate, postgraduate, coursework and research levels, including specialised courses for Defence personnel and associated industry, including a range of executive programs. The Human Resources (HR) Unit delivers strategic and operational HR support to all staff at UNSW Canberra.
**About the Role**:
**Role**: Human Resources Consultant
**Salary**: Level 7/8 $100,331 - $126,366 plus 17% Superannuation
**Employment type**:Full time, 35hrs
**Term**: Fixed term, for a period of up to 2 years
**Location**:Canberra, Australian Capital Territory
The HR Consultant delivers customer focused, collaborative and consistent HR consulting services and advice on a range of human resource management activities to support a high performing and innovative workforce.
As a HR Consultant you will have the opportunity to utilise your operational expertise to provide high-level solutions to our people leaders in line with UNSWs overarching strategy. Working as part of a large and supportive team, you will also help to drive innovative HR initiatives and projects.
- A relevant Degree with extensive HR experience or an equivalent level of knowledge gained through any other combination of education, training and experience.
- Experience in interpreting legislation and Industrial Agreements together with policy and procedure to provide effective HR advice and solutions for client groups.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail and ability to prioritise and control workload with a positive sense of initiative.
- A strong customer service focus, a flexible and adaptable attitude and an ability to build effective relationships with managers and staff at all levels in the resolution of HR issues.
- Proven ability to influence senior management and stakeholders as appropriate to ensure successful outcomes, with demonstrated leadership and mentoring skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage more complex HR issues with mínimal direction.
