Overview

Our NSW Government client is seeking an experienced Records Manager contracted until 30 June 2023 in the Sydney CBD. $66.30 p/h plus super.

Primary Purpose of the Position

The Records Manager is responsible for undertaking a range of activities and tasks to deliver the records management sentencing and retention program; records may be operational or administrative and exist in a variety of media and formats. The role provides consistent, efficient and responsive services to internal clients regarding record maintenance and lifecycle management activities.

Key accountabilities

Maintain an inventory and analysis of current hardcopy and electronic holdings to identify records for retention, disposal, archive and/or digitisation.
Contribute to the design, review and documentation of procedures for best practice in retention, sentencing and disposal as required.
Regularly review the adequacy and currency of the Commission Retention and Disposal Authorities in consultation with the Information Manager.
Liaise with Information Manager and all stakeholders to suggest recommendations for changes to disposal authorities.
Coordinate and collaborate with stakeholders to assist with an ongoing digitisation program, ensuring compliance with State Records Act and other legislation to meet record keeping and legislative imperatives.
Undertake disposal activities in line with State Records approved Disposal Authorities.
Assist with audit activities as required.
Provide regular and ad hoc reports relating to archive activities.

Key recordkeeping accountabilities

Comply with the Records Management Policy and relevant statutory requirements.
Create full and accurate records of business activities, including records of all decisions and actions made in the course of official business.
Ensure that all records are saved into the official recordkeeping system.

Key Knowledge and Experience

Records management experience, within a busy client-focussed working environment; willingness to participate in training as required.
Demonstrated understanding of State Records legislation, and associated policies, standards and authorities and/or experience creating records management policies and processes in private sector organisations.
Experience and/or expertise in archiving and digitisation projects.
Sound project management and problem-solving skills.
Sound judgement, initiative and the ability to adapt to changes in the working environment.
Good interpersonal, communication and customer service skills, including the capacity to liaise with staff at all levels.
Proven ability to work independently and cooperatively as part of an effective team.
Excellent computer skills, including records management and/or document tracking software.
