**The Role**:
The Placement Liaison Officer is primarily responsible for providing a link between schools, pre-service teachers (PSTs) and the Professional Experience Office. The Placement Liaison Officer will provide accurate and timely feedback on PST performance while on placement and identify PSTs who need additional support.

Work is offered on an as-needed basis and will primarily be structured around the 2023 Professional Experience Placement Calendar. Hours will vary week by week, depending on the number of PSTs on placement.

**To be successful, you'll have**:

- Degree in Education and other relevant qualifications and experience
- Registered (or previously registered) teacher with experience teaching in Australian schools
- Previous experience working in a Leading Teacher (or above) classification and working with PSTs in a mentoring capacity
- Knowledge of the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a proven ability to establish good working relationships with colleagues
- Excellent communication skills and capacity to support learners across multiple contexts

**Special Requirements**:

- Infrequent work outside business hours is required (e.g., work at evening or weekend events is required)
- Frequent travel will be required to visit PSTs on placement
- Drivers Licence
- Working with Children Check (refer to Recruitment Procedure)

**Your key responsibilities will be to**:

- Liaise with the Professional Experience Office regarding PSTs who are on placement, in particular those who are deemed At Risk.
- Regularly meet with PSTs and their mentor teachers to assess their progress while on placement.
- Provide support to PSTs and mentors when concerns are raised during placement.
- Document relevant feedback for the Professional Experience Office in a timely manner, in accordance with the AITSL Graduate Teacher Standards, via the InPlace placement management system.
- Develop an understanding and general knowledge of Initial Teacher Education courses provided by Deakin University.
- Where necessary, liaise with relevant Course Directors and Unit Chairs to support PST placements.
- Connect PSTs with resources needed to enable them to participate and successfully complete professional experience in a safe, supportive and enriching environment.
