Manager, Policy and Research

As the Policy and Research Manager for the Regional Collaborative Governance Model, you will work in partnership with representatives from across Queensland agencies and different levels of governance to ensure identified regional priorities are planned and governed effectively to provide effective place-based solutions across Queensland's regional communities.
A high level of professionalism and the ability to work collaboratively, develop effective relationships and partnerships are important attributes required of this role. In this role you will deliver well researched, strategic advice to support the Government's focus on regional Queensland.
**Key responsibilities include**:
- Prepare high quality, well written strategic policy advice, informed by research and analysis on regional priorities, issues and opportunities to add value for communities across Queensland.
- Provide leadership, guidance and advice to ensure delivery of well-considered, high quality policy papers, briefs, reports, including cabinet submissions and other significant policy papers.
- Enable implementation of the Regional Collaborative Governance Model including designing frameworks and processes to guide consistent learning and development of agreed regional priorities.
- Critically evaluate new information and provide specialist advice on risk, opportunity and issues management, resourcing and benefits realisation to support continuous improvement.
- Support delivery of a fit-for-purpose reporting framework to ensure a transparent and accurate account of progress against key performance indicators, critically evaluating information and identifying risks and issues for escalation.
- Maintain knowledge and encourage continued learnings throughout the Regional Collaborative Governance Model across agencies and levels of governance.
- Collaborate with key internal and external stakeholders; including supporting collaborative networks across other government agencies and other sectors to ensure continual awareness of emergent issues and trends.
- Work with the relevant audit entity, to coordinate and ensure regular audits are undertaken, and audit recommendations are implemented.
**Desirable attributes**:
- Extensive experience drafting briefing notes, policy papers, reports and proposals.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- High level competency in the development of strong, productive and trusted relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Political nous and sensitivity.
- Working within complex collaborative environments.
- Expertise and competence in conducting literature reviews, environmental scans and best practice research methods.
- Skills in scenario analysis and developing strategic policy responses.
