The Strategic Directions team (SD) in the Transport Policy Branch (TPB) draws from policy insights, emerging issues and opportunities, research and analysis to shape 'whole of transport systems' policy and set TMR's strategic direction through a 30- year policy horizon (the Queensland Transport Strategy) and a 10-year strategic plan (Transport Coordination Plan).
In the role of Principal Policy Advisor, you will support the implementation of strategic policy, projects and advice which provide direction for the development of Queensland's transport system and align to the departments key strategic objectives.
**Some of your responsibilities will include**: - Contribute to and support the implementation of strategic policy and projects that provide direction and deliver outcomes for the transport system and network. Participate in project teams, comprising internal and external stakeholders, to develop, implement and evaluate strategic transport policy and projects within agreed quality, cost, and time parameters. Engage, communicate and collaborate with stakeholders across the department, government, industry and community in relation to the achievement of strategic transport system priorities. Prepare timely and well researched cabinet submissions, briefs and/or policy documents. Create a positive work environment that will build and support a culture of continuous learning and high performance.
To thrive in this role, you will need to demonstrate the following: - Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline, or knowledge and experience in one or more of the following areas: strategic policy analysis development and implementation, land/use/transport planning, or program management. Experience in establishing and maintaining productive working relationships with key stakeholders. Experience in collaborating and engaging with stakeholders to embrace change. Well-developed written and oral communication skills, including strong analytical and research skills and ability to summarise and communicate complex ideas.
