**Strategic Policy and Legislation has four main areas of focus**:
*
- Strategic policy: policy advice and development to support strategic decision making and systems reform.
- Legislation: ensuring our legislation is fit-for-purpose and promotes the best interests of the child.
- Intergovernmental relations: securing improved outcomes for Queensland children and families with other states and territories and the Commonwealth.
- Research and evaluation: ensuring our policies and programs are evidencebased.

**As a Policy Officer, you will**:

- Research and present advice to contribute to policy and legislative processes across the department.
- Co-ordinate and prepare a range of comprehensive, accurate and timely information, briefings and documentation on a range of issues.

**The Policy Officer key responsibilities are**:

- Support the delivery of policy forums, inter-agency meetings and consultative processes.
- Analyse and prepare reports, general correspondence, briefing notes, memorandum for approvals on diverse issues to departmental standards.
- Provide high quality process and administrative support (including Procurement and Human Resources) for the Branch.
- Deliver secretariat functions, inter-governmental communications and project support.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with key internal stakeholders.

Prior policy experience is not a requirement of the position. Applicants with frontline child safety or other backgrounds seeking a career change are encouraged to apply.
