The Policy Officer position is an opportunity to join the Strategic Performance and Research (SPR) team in the Strategic Policy and Insights division of the Department of State Development, Infrastructure and Planning. With a focus on collaboration and engagement across the department and other government agencies, SPR drives the delivery of policy and legislative objectives that are a strategic priority for the department and portfolio.
**Your opportunities will include**:

- engaging with stakeholders within the portfolio and across government to develop and inform whole of agency policy development and undertake future focused research to support departmental priorities
- undertaking a proactive approach to initiating and to engaging with others to ensure well informed policy, projects or programs are delivered, drawing upon your ability to navigate complex environments to steer the way.

**About the Role**:
As a Policy Officer in SPR your responsibilities will include to:

- undertake research and analysis and develop policy and legislative solutions
- analyse and prepare reports, briefs, correspondence and submissions
- support the effective delivery of policy and legislation projects and programs
- provide strategic policy coordination, policy advice, intergovernmental support and advice, and secretariat support
- exercise judgement to effectively manage competing priorities while working collaboratively with colleagues, or individually, to deliver workloads on time and which meet customer's expectations
- contribute to a positive and effective team culture by participating in work area goal-setting, service improvement and other unit/divisional activities
- represent the department at internal forums and committees
- monitor, maintain, assist and coordinate administration systems and processes to support the effective and efficient operation of SPR team and the wider team
- perform day-to-day tasks as required by the Director and team members with tight timeframes.
