**Position Information**:
Cobbitty Public School is located in a growing semi-rural setting south west of Sydney. The school currently has an enrolment of 343 students including 21% students from a non-English speaking background. The school values Aboriginal culture and history with a Junior AECG in operation and strong links within the community. Whilst the cohort is small, NAPLAN results demonstrate that Aboriginal students are performing at or above when compared to their peers. A steady increase in enrolment numbers is occurring each year from the new housing developments in the area.
The school has a highly involved, supportive community, including an active P&C, who value staff dedication and strive to ensure their children are receiving every possible opportunity for individual success.
Our staff includes a combination of both early career and experienced teachers. All teachers work together, within a strong culture of collaboration, to form a dedicated team of educators who are committed to excellence and who care deeply about the needs of each child. A focus on continued learning of all teachers and leaders, including the continuous development of the capabilities of all teachers is maintained to maximise student growth and attainment.
Analysis has also identified wellbeing as an area for continued focus to support learning, particularly the areas of attendance and social and emotional wellbeing. The school attendance rate is above state average and continues to be a focus in line with the NSW Plan for Public Education. A strong commitment to explicit teaching, high potential and gifted education and equity remain key to Cobbitty Public Schools ongoing success.
**Selection Criteria**:
In addition to the general selection criteria,
1. Exceptional interpersonal skills and proven capacity to implement a whole school approach to ensure that every student can learn, grow and belong in an outstanding and equitable education system.
2. Proven capacity to lead the implementation of innovative, evidence and research-based teaching and learning practices, to support the diverse learning needs of students.
3. An ability to motivate and inspire a diverse and dynamic staff; including experienced staff, early career and expert teachers, underpinned by high impact professional learning to build capacity and enable the continuous improvement of all staff.
**General Selection Criteria**:
1. High level educational leadership with the skills to lead and manage a complex public school focused on the delivery of high quality education
2. Ability to lead and manage rigorous and inclusive whole school teaching and learning programs
3. High level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build positive relationships and engage all levels of the school and educational community
4. Ability to lead and manage the development and performance of staff to improve teaching and learning
5. Ability to plan systems and manage resources effectively and equitably to enhance teaching and learning
6. Capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department's Aboriginal education policy and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people
