**About the Company**

The Department of Communities and Justice delivers legal, court and supervision services to the people of NSW (New South Wales) by managing courts and justice services, implementing programs to reduce crime and re offending, managing custodial and community-based correctional services, protecting rights and community standards, and advising on law reform and legal matters.

Corrective Services NSW runs the state’s correctional centres, supervises offenders in the community, and delivers programs to reduce reoffending, support reintegration and build safer communities.

**About the role**

Reporting directly to the Director of Aboriginal Strategy, the Principal Manager will provide strategic operational direction and cultural leadership to improve performance in Community Corrections for Aboriginal people and communities in NSW.

The role also influences policy and procedure by providing an Aboriginal voice to aspects of Executive and decision-making processes.

It is expected that you will work collaboratively with key internal stakeholders and aboriginal communities to enhance your people’s experience and ensure effective interface between program development, planning, service design and implementation.

The design and development of the broad program of work will continue to be guided by ongoing engagement with Aboriginal communities and organisations. Work streams to implement the program of work will involve co-design and delivery of projects with government, non-government, and Aboriginal communities.

You will oversee the management of a full range of projects and reforms to deliver on the Closing the Gap priorities, and you will also provide leadership, advice, and support across a range of policies and programs, to support engagement of Aboriginal people on supervised orders.

**About you**

You have strong leadership skills and experience in working with Indigenous communities, to be able to influence change and increase cultural capabilities with the Department of Communities Justice.

You will be a highly motivated and forward-thinking leader, who is strategically minded and collaborative in your approach, coupled with exceptional time management and negotiation skills, to successfully lead a project team within a fast-paced environment.

**Essential Requirements**:

- Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent relevant experience.
- Current and valid Driver Licence or willingness to gain one within 12 months of appointment as role will require travel within NSW.
- Co Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander persons who are
- Aboriginality with connection and understanding to community and country
- Documented verification of Aboriginality
- Contact with Offenders
- National Criminal History Record Check in accordance with the Disability Inclusion Act 2014
- Working with Children Check clearance in accordance with the Child Protection (Working with Children) Act 2012
