Do you have a passion for building relationships that helps others understand the complexities of social and biophysical science relating to bushfire risk? Would you like to work in a supportive, small and creative multi-agency team that contributes to leading emergency management engagement practices?

You will bring excellent collaborative, relationship building experience and the capability to facilitate science-based engagement and communications for a broad audience across the bushfire management sector to help communities manage their bushfire risk. You will have the opportunity to make the best use of your strong skills and experience in behaviour change, science interpretation and science communication to contribute to a diverse range of projects within the Community First stream of Safer Together funded work.

The role provides strategic bushfire risk communications, engagement and change management support for DEECA and its Safer Together delivery partners in collaborating with communities and other key stakeholders for bushfire risk management. The role also facilitates science-based communications and engagement programs to help staff engage more clearly and more effectively with internal and external communities.

**Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications**
- Tertiary qualifications or demonstrated experience in one or more of the following areas is desirable - Science (biophysical and/or social science) and/or Natural Resource Management
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in science communications concepts and methods, with a focus on science interpretation, science outreach, science in reach, and capability building
- Demonstrated knowledge and/or experience in the design and implementation of change management and behavioural change initiatives (e.g., behavioural insights, community and stakeholder engagement, organisational change management).
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in community engagement, community development and relationship management methods
- Preferred knowledge and/or experience in emergency management, risk management and fire behaviour.

**This is a fixed term position available for a period until 30 June 2024. The work location for this position is 8 Nicholson, Street East Melbourne with hybrid work arrangements available.**
