The Pricing and Policy Division regulate prices for water, public transport, local government, electricity and gas industries. We also undertake reviews and investigations into a wide range of economic and policy issues in those and other industries at the NSW Government’s request.

Some examples of recent work undertaken by the Pricing and Policy Division are:

- Solar feed-in tariffs - we reviewed the benchmark rate electricity customers can expect to be paid by their retailer for their solar electricity when they export it to the grid.
- Competition, costs and pricing in the NSW funeral industry - we looked at people’s experiences in organising funerals, the structure of the industry and how easy it is for people to find the information they need.
- Fire and Rescue NSW’s charges - Fire and Rescue NSW provides fire, rescue and hazmat services in cities and towns across NSW. We considered what they should charge for false alarm call-outs, attending hazmat incidents, fire safety inspections and reports, and attending special events.
- Charges for water, wastewater, public transport and council rates across NSW - we regularly review and set prices for a range of essential services including SydneyWater and Sydney Desalination Plant, regional water services, Sydney’s trains, buses and ferries, rural and regional buses and local government rates.

Our organisation is small enough for you to have access to the senior executive and Tribunal members and for your voice to be heard, and large enough for you to experience diversity in your work.

Our office is in Central Sydney. We also offer flexible working conditions and remote working options. We have a strong commitment to workplace flexibility to help staff balance their work and personal lives.
