Infrastructure Technician

- Defence experience needed
- Security cleared - NV2 or higher
This role will work within the Systems, Integration and Operations area of the Networks and Applications Support Organisation, ICT Delivery Division, Chief Information Officer Group, Department of Defence.
The Infrastructure Technician will be required to perform and/or have responsibility for duties including, but not limited to:
- Identify, evaluate, and manage the adoption of appropriate tools, techniques, and processes (including automation and continuous integration) to create a robust integration framework.
- Develop concept and capability in alignment with technical requirements.
- Develop low-level architecture and implement solutions as per agreed architectural patterns
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of artefacts such as Build Guides, As-Built-As-Configured Documents, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), etc
- Contribute to the development of system integration policies, standards, and tools
- Work with peers in a highly collaborative and high-performing team environment
Skills & requirements:
- 5 years’ experience in implementing large scale, geographically distributed systems on Wintel and Linux
- Strong Windows administration and troubleshooting
- Strong cyber security focus in design, implementation, and support; experience with and strong understanding of the following technologies/methodologies is essential:
- VMWare VCF
- Nutanix Enterprise Cloud
- Microsegmentation solutions, including VMWare NSX-T,Nutanix Flow, Illumio
- Backup and Data protection, including HYCU, VEEAM
- Networking fundamentals
- Experience in developing solutions for private cloud and/or multi-tenancy.
- Experience in deploying, supporting, and recovering virtual workloads
- Experience in developing highly available/fault tolerant systems, networks, and infrastructure in a connected, partially connected, degraded, or often disconnected state.
Desirable skills & experience:
- Knowledge and skills in the design, implementation, and configuration of automation and orchestration technologies and
- Knowledge and skills in DevSecOps technologies and principles, specifically infrastructure-as-code, Git, PowerShell, Python, or other similar languages.
- Ability to rapidly build, automate, and deliver proof of concept systems to support analysis, testing, accreditation, and development activities, preferably within a DevSecOps process.
- Solid understanding of the concepts and fundamentals of one or more of the following technology/methodologies:
- Privilege Access Management
- Least Privilege Access
- Network Segmentation
- Containerisation
- Fortinet Suite
- Linux (RHEL)
- Microsoft Enterprise products (AD, SQL, Exchange, SharePoint)
*Security clearance ESSENTIAL* - NV2 or higher
ITAR regulated - You will be required to comply with the US international traffic in arms regulation
