Our claims team is growing, and we have two fantastic opportunities for seasoned claims management professionals to join our claims team within the Insurance Services division. As our Claims Specialist, you’ll be responsible for end-to-end management, assessment, and settlement of a diverse range of liability claims. You’ll be reporting to the Claims Portfolio Manager, Liability in the Claims function of the Insurance Services division.

Victorian Managed Insurance Authority (VMIA) is the Victorian Government's insurer and risk adviser, covering the people and projects that help Victorians thrive. We're an agency in the Department of Treasury and Finance portfolio established under the Victorian Managed Insurance Authority Act, and report to the Assistant Treasurer.

We provide insurance and risk advice to government departments and agencies, with more than 4,600 clients ranging from small community service organisations to public hospitals, schools, and core service providers. We also provide domestic building insurance to builders, giving Victorian homeowners peace of mind for building projects valued over $16,000.

**Your role**

Our claims team is growing, and we have two fantastic opportunities for seasoned claims management professionals to join our claims team within the Insurance Services division.

As our Claims Specialist, you'll be responsible for end-to-end management, assessment, and settlement of a diverse range of liability claims.

You'll be reporting to the Claims Portfolio Manager, Liability in the Claims function of the Insurance Services division.

As part of a small team working for a diverse insurer, this is a great opportunity to collaborate with internal stakeholders and external service providers to deliver high-quality claims outcomes.

Drawing on your highly developed communication, influencing and negotiation skills along with strong analytical skills and insurance industry knowledge, you use insights of trends within your portfolio to work with internal colleagues to educate clients and build their knowledge of emerging trends and strategies to reduce the level and frequency of claims.

Success in this role requires your ability to comfortably use IT systems, work under pressure effectively while maintaining resilience, strong technical expertise and relationship-building and influencing skills.

**Who you work with**
- You work with the Claims Portfolio Manager, Head of Claims and Claims peers to actively contribute to the development of new and existing claims services, practices, and products to build value to clients.
- You work across VMIA including Underwriters and Risk Advisors to optimise service and product offerings.
- You build and maintain effective relationships with third party service providers to obtain optimum claims resolution and manage recovery opportunities.

**About you**
- Demonstrated experience in liability claims management within general insurance, legal or similar regulatory environments.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written).
- Resilient with the ability to work under pressure and manage and resolve complex claims within a timely manner.
- Empathetic with the ability to listen and understand the needs of our clients.
- You are solution-focused with the ability to analyse complex issues and problem solve.
