**Position Information**:
Dapto High School is a comprehensive high school located south of Wollongong and to the west of Lake Illawarra, occupying 15 hectares of land. Currently, there are 970 students enrolled, with 10% identifying as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander and 7% with English as an additional language/dialect (EAL/D). The school has a FOEI of 114. The school is home to ‘Wollemi’, a special education unit, which caters for 35 students across five Autism classes. The establishment of a sixth Autism support class is approved and planning is underway for commencement in 2024.

Dapto High School prides itself on providing a supportive and nurturing environment where students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. The school values and celebrates the diverse backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives of students, recognising that it enriches the learning environment and prepares them to become global citizens in an ever-changing world. Student voice is particularly nurtured and valued. Environmental sustainability issues infuse daily operations and curriculum delivery. Karrara, the school’s Aboriginal Hub, provides additional connection and is supported by an Aboriginal Education Officer.

Dedicated teachers employ innovative and research-based instructional approaches, fostering critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills to ensure students are well-equipped for future success.

The school fosters a strong sense of belonging and wellbeing, supported by the RISE values (Respect, Integrity, Safety and Excellence). Specialist programs prioritise the social and emotional development of students, providing support networks and opportunities for personal growth including Seasons for Growth, Top Blokes, Young Women’s Program and Together4Youth. Active links to community-based agencies provide comprehensive support for identified students.

The school is part of the Dapto Learning Community. This includes Kanahooka HS, Hayes Park PS, Dapto PS, Koonawarra PS, Mount Brown PS and Lakelands PS. Collaborative partnerships provide enhanced learning opportunities and initiatives across the Community of Schools, including Public Speaking and Aboriginal Education.

Dapto High School is supported by an active P&C Association.

The school is currently preparing for External Validation this term.

1. High level educational leadership with the skills to lead and manage a complex public school focused on the delivery of high quality education

2. Ability to lead and manage rigorous and inclusive whole school teaching and learning programs

3. High level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build positive relationships and engage all levels of the school and educational community

4. Ability to lead and manage the development and performance of staff to improve teaching and learning

5. Ability to plan systems and manage resources effectively and equitably to enhance teaching and learning

6. Capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department's Aboriginal education policies and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people
