The Opportunity

AIA Australia has a fantastic opportunity for the Data Governance Analyst to work ‘hands-on’ with our data across different domains. This exciting key role will see you engaging with business stakeholders, working groups and technical experts to define and improve data definitions, catalogues, lineages, qualities, standards and controls.

To do this successfully you will:

- Create and conduct governance processes to measure data management and data quality maturity across various domains
- Work with Subject Matter Experts/Data Governance Manager / Data Stewards to implement and support data governance activities.
- Conduct data profiling and analysis of existing datasets to identify and categorise critical data elements and sensitive data
- Be the system expert and primary user of Data Governance Tool and conduct monitoring activities for each Data Governance component
- Work with stakeholders to understand, prioritise and document business data definition catalogue, data quality, data governance requirements, processes and technical needs
- Support the domain deployment activities and collaborate with project teams to ensure the proper data definition, documentation and use of data for all projects / initiatives
- Proactively contribute to continuous improvement of existing data governance landscape with AIA initiatives
- Support the monthly data governance working group (attendance, deliverables, initiatives)
- Solid experience in a data governance analyst role within a large organisation or consulting firm
- Experience in any data governance tools (eg. Precisely-Data360, Collibra, Informatica, Purview)
- Strong experience with programming languages (eg. SQL) and/or data visualisation tools and/or ETL tools (e.g. SSIS)
- Strong knowledge of data governance frameworks and methodologies (including data quality, metadata management and data lineage)
- Strong communication & stakeholder management; this role requires high engagement with the various SME is AIA businesses
- Strong sense of ownership and self starter
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
- Some industry knowledge of Financial Services / Life Insurance highly regarded
