**About the role**:
Based out of our Brisbane or Sydney Head Office, the **Research and Policy Advisor** will assist with activities that enhance Virgin Australia’s relationship with all levels of Government, as well as supporting the organisation’s policy function.

In this role, you will have a strong understanding of Australian state, territory, and federal political systems and the processes that underpin government policy development.

In addition you will:

- Assist with the development and drafting of briefing notes and research papers to inform Virgin Australia’s political engagement.
- Undertake research into issues and government policy that impact Virgin Australia.
- Assist the Manager and General Manager, Government Relations to monitor and analyse relevant policy and political processes in all Australian jurisdictions.
- Support effective communication and collaboration across the organisation.
- Provide advice and support in relation to government processes, relationships, and priorities.
- Develop and maintain an understanding of the issues and concerns facing the organisation, its leaders, and their teams.

**You’ll be great in this role if you have**:

- Relevant tertiary qualifications (law, politics, international relations, public policy)
- Previous experience in analysing and interpret policy directions
- Willingness to work collaboratively, with experience in building consensus on complex issues.
- You will possess excellent people skills and ability to build and maintain trusted relationships.
- The ability to work with mínimal supervision and effectively prioritise to meet deadlines.
- Highly developed written and oral communication skills
- Strong judgment and decision-making skills.
