Victorian Funds Management Corporation (VFMC) is a public authority responsible for investing for the benefit of Victorians on behalf of the State of Victoria. They manage funds of over $75 billion for Victorian public authorities and related organisations across insurance, superannuation, health, arts, education, and service agencies.
VFMC are a diverse and collaborative team that are united by a single purpose: Improving the future prosperity of Victoria by delivering market-leading, long-term returns.
As part of the Client and Market Development Team, you will provide a range of services that enable VFMC to be well-positioned and represented in its market and the industry. These include managing client stakeholder relationships, providing investment consulting and performance reporting services, and facilitating internal and external communications.
The newly created Client Account and Insights Manager position has dual functionality, equally divided between:
i) Leading the team accountable for the end-to-end delivery of institutional client performance reporting and the delivery of insights pertaining to performance, attribution, market commentary, fees and other client reporting needs.
ii) Responsibilities of the team including the delivery of insights to the Investment team, the broader business and other key external stakeholders, including Clients and the Department of Treasury and Finance. The role is required to drive change and deliver efficiencies in the way information is received, analysed, managed and delivered and strongly manage external service provider relationships such as the custodian.
iii) Management of client and stakeholder relationships, providing investment-related support to clients, presenting performance and market updates into a defined portfolio of VFMC’s smaller to medium-sized client committees, supporting the onboarding of new clients and ensuring strong client communications.
**Key responsibilities will include**:
- Accountable for the provision of timely, accurate and insightful performance reports to VFMC Clients, the Department of Treasury and Finance, VFMC Investment teams, Management and the VFMC Board
- Work with the custodian to ensure delivery of timely and accurate investment data
- To lead projects as requested by the Head of Client and Market Development, specifically a full review of the existing reports, end-to-end delivery process and supporting reporting systems and tools
- Analyse, review and provide guidance to clients to assist them in setting appropriate investment objectives and investment policy frameworks
- Provide timely and accurate guidance to clients on strategic asset allocations via a mix of VFMC investment options
- Attend regular client and stakeholder meetings to present information on VFMC’s multi asset investment solutions and markets
- Act as a focal point between designated clients and VFMC to communicate the needs and expectations of clients to VFMC
- Contribute to the enhancement of VFMC’s reputation as a Centre of Investment Excellence and image amongst the wider investment community
**Technical Skills & Qualifications required include**:
- Strong institutional client relationship management skills
- Outstanding stakeholder management skills, including external service providers
- Thorough understanding and genuine interest in financial markets, strong knowledge of capital market instruments and modern portfolio theory
- Sound knowledge of performance reporting attribution approaches
- Exceptional skills in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and experience using Jacobi, FactSet, Power BI and Python is a bonus
- Project management skills (Agile methodology a bonus)
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, including the ability to write and deliver reports and presentations for client committees and other external forums, internal documents, RFPs and presentations for external audiences
- Team management skills, including strong communication and workflow management
- Ability to adapt to different cultures and the ability to lead and absorb change
**Knowledge and Experience**:
- A tertiary qualification in commerce/economics/accounting/ finance or a related discipline, Master of Applied Finance or CFA Charterholder highly advantageous
- Previous commercial experience working in financial services (investment management, investment/asset consulting)
- Experience in reporting, analysis and preparation of written commentary within the investment industry
- A successful track record in managing a Performance Reporting team and workflows with broad knowledge of investment markets and macroeconomics
