Northern Water (NW) aims to provide a new, climate independent water source for the Far North, Upper Spencer Gulf and Eastern Eyre Peninsula regions of South Australia, enabling the growth of industries crucial to achieving net-zero goals, including the green energy and hydrogen industries. Water Scarcity is a persistent challenge in South Australia, relying heavily on the Murray Darling Basin for supply. This project seeks to alleviate these pressures and enhance water security through strategic water infrastructure development.

Reporting to the Director, Commercial, this role oversees the funding and finance aspects of the commercial sale of water to offtakers for NW. The largest regional water security project of its kind in South Australia's history, this role will work closely with public sector agencies, financing partners, as well as key internal and external stakeholders. Developing and refining deterministic & probabilistic quantitative pricing models for the sale of desalinated water to offtakers, the Associate Director, Funding & Finance will enable a feasible, sound and effective commercial strategy which provides confidence to investors now and into the future. Scaffolded within project management methodologies, key activities will include mitigating the risks associated with large-scale commercial construction and operations, ensuring robust quality control and assurance processes for all quantitative works, and supporting the resolution of sensitive matters and disputes.

Highly skilled at translating complex modelling into understandable insights for a range of audiences, you possess a gift for simplifying complexity, translating technical jargon into compelling stories and conveying quantitative analyses in clear and simple terms. You will thrive in a collaborative, multidisciplinary and pioneering environment and enjoy tackling novel ‘problems’ to navigate complexities such as the variety of offtakers and the substantial speed, scale and duration of service provision. Preferably with experience in large-scale mining, energy or major infrastructure projects, and tertiary qualifications in Law, Commerce, Business Administration, Finance or a related discipline, you may have a background in commodities trading, oil and gas, private equity or mergers and acquisitions.
