**About the role**:
As a result of supporting staff development and mobility, we have the opportunity for an experienced strategic policy professional to join our team for a fixed term.

The Manager, Strategic Policy will lead a small team to provide strategic policy advice across the department. The Manager, Strategic Policy will work closely with the Director, Strategic Policy to manage, plan and deliver on policy and strategic initiatives aligned to the Department’ objectives. The role will work in a collaborative team with high quality delivery and a strong supportive team structure.

**Key Selection Criteria**:

- Demonstrated ability to effectively initiate and lead the development, implementation and evaluation of critical and complex policies and strategies that support government objectives, including utilising extensive analysis, influencing and creative and strategic thinking skills.
- Demonstrated experience in leading and supporting strategic program, planning and policy development processes involving high level and sensitive consultation and negotiation, including developing and maintaining long term mutually beneficial relationships and networks with diverse stakeholders.
- Knowledge and experience across the majority of the Department’s areas of policy - industry, innovation, small business, workforce development and science.
- Proven high level written, verbal and interpersonal skills, including liaison and negotiation skills in providing strategic and objective advice at executive levels and with people from diverse backgrounds.

**Remuneration**:
Competitive salary (ASO8 $117,554 min - $121,992 max pa) plus superannuation

**Qualifications**:
Essential: Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline and/or relevant industry experience.

**Special Conditions**:

- The role will be offered on term contract for a period of two (2) years.
- Satisfactory Department of Human Services Criminal History Check or National Police Check (NPC) required prior to employment.
