**Your Role**

Amazing opportunity to join AHO’s Housing and Client Services team and work in a highly client focused environment. The position provides an opportunity to support the delivery Services Our Way (SOW) - a program that makes a real difference and delivers outcome to Aboriginal and Torres Strait people and communities.

The AHO currently delivers the SOW program across 17 LGAs in NSW. SOW is an Aboriginal, client-led, trauma informed support coordination service for vulnerable Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and families. It provides culturally appropriate advocacy and service coordination, with a whole-of-family localised approach.

**What’s on offer?**
- Liaise and work across AHO, government and non-government stakeholders to ensure effective interface between, and updates on, SOW program development, planning, service design and policy implementation.
- Lead a team to provide targeted support to vulnerable Aboriginal people and families within defined program parameters
- Design, implement and coordinate comprehensive projects that deliver high quality outcomes.
- Provide proactive and evidence-based advice, reports, and briefing notes to senior leaders, to ensure matters that impact current business and future decision-making are considered.
- Provide communications, media and marketing support.

You will share our vision of ensuring every Aboriginal person in NSW has equal access to, and choice in, affordable housing and supporting vulnerable Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and families to achieve their goals.

You will be a welcomed and valued member of our team. Ideally you will have:

- Tertiary qualifications in a related discipline and/or equivalent knowledge, skills and experience with demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development
- Demonstrated understanding of Aboriginal cultural beliefs and attitudes and of the socio-economic position of Aboriginal people within Australian society

This is an identified role under Section 14d of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 and as such Aboriginality is an essential requirement of the role. Aboriginal identified positions are developed where Aboriginal identity, cultural knowledge or connections are a genuine aspect of the role.

Positions are specifically noted under the provisions of the NSW Anti-discrimination Act (1977) for Aboriginal people who meet the following criteria:

- is of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent, and
- identifies as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person and is accepted as such by the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community.
- Sensitivity to and understanding of Aboriginal Culture and an excellent understanding of Aboriginal community governance and structures.
- A current Working with Children Check (WWCC) is an essential requirement for this role. The role has been identified as requiring this check in line with the Child Protection (Working with Children) Act 2012.

The AHO is a statutory authority, established under the Aboriginal Housing Act 1998 (NSW) and plans, administers, and expands the policies, program, and asset base for Aboriginal housing in NSW.

The AHO works in partnership with Aboriginal Community Housing Providers (ACHP) and Aboriginal communities in delivering housing program and developing housing policy and standards.
