Our Safer Family Services team delivers a range of services, including intensive family support, to help children stay safely with their families and avoid the need for out-of-home care. They also help families with parenting support, workshops and connection to community events initiatives to improve child safety and wellbeing.

**Role Details**
***
The Aboriginal Cultural Consultant is a role within Safer Family Services and is accountable to the Aboriginal Cultural Lead for:

- Providing comprehensive specialist and cultural expertise in the assessment and analysis of and response to the needs of Aboriginal children and their families.
- Build the capacity of staff by providing clinical support, cultural supervision, and education.
- Working closely with SFS teams and leadership and in partnership with Department for Child Protection (DCP) and other appropriate agencies.
- Providing comprehensive specialist expertise in the cultural and clinical assessment and analysis of and response to the safety and wellbeing needs of Aboriginal children and their families.

Must hold a current Australian issued driver’s licence (equivalent to minimum class C).
Covid -19 - will be required to have had two COVID-19 vaccinations prior to engagement with DHS, unless it would be medically unsafe for the employee to do so, or they’re currently employed in the SA public sector and are not required to be vaccinated.

**Essential Qualifications**:
An appropriate Social Work qualification from a recognised tertiary institution giving eligibility for full membership with the Australian Association of Social Work.
