**Your role**

The Assistant Project Officer undertakes a range of project research, analysis, reporting, implementation, and administrative activities to support the development and delivery of projects, in line with established project plans and objectives.

**What you’ll do**
- Provide project and operational support, including monitoring and reporting on project plans, milestones and deliverables, to ensure time, cost and quality indicators are in line with approved project plans
- Update and collate documentation and records regarding relevant issues, policies and practices to ensure the delivery of projects complies with agreed project management methodology
- Undertake basic research and analysis in assigned project areas and contribute to the preparation of project briefs to support informed decision making and planning
- Assist the project team to complete tasks and implement project plans to ensure agreed outcomes are achieved
- Communicate with relevant stakeholders to provide updates regarding project status and implementation issues
- Provide a range of secretariat and administrative services, including coordinating committee meetings and preparing papers, to support project management delivery

You will also

You'll work as part of a growing team of six people who are all highly committed achieving better outcomes for Aboriginal young people. You will be working in a high-volume environment of challenging and rewarding work. You will, at times, be required to travel throughout New South Wales to work with Aboriginal communities, organisations, and other parts of Youth Justice.

- Documented verification of Aboriginality.

The Department will accept proof of Aboriginality confirming the following:

- You are an Aboriginal person of Aboriginal descent.
- You identify as being Aboriginal; and
- You are accepted as such by the community in which you live

An acceptable form of documented verification is a “Confirmation of Aboriginality” letter, provided to you by a local Aboriginal organisation that includes a common seal from that organisation.

There are two options for acceptable evidence to confirm identity:
1. Provide a confirmation of Aboriginality form that addresses the criteria. This is in the form of a “Confirmation of Aboriginality” letter, provided to you be a local Aboriginal organisation that includes a common seal from that organisation.

2. Provide two-three (2-3) letters from Aboriginal organisations within the community in which they live/work, which combined address the criteria listed above. This is often a Lands Council or Aboriginal Medical Service — but does not need to be.
