**Role**:
The **Student Engagement Programs Leader** is accountable to the Assistant Principal responsible for Wellbeing and Engagement at the Middle Years.

This Learning Specialist is an integral component of the School Improvement team and Curriculum team. The Learning Specialist will work closely with Head of Middle Years, Director of Learning
- Data Assessment and Operations, the Director of Wellbeing as well as other members of the Leadership team to embed a whole College approach to building programs to promote connectedness and engagement. This Learning Specialist will be based in the Middle Years team and undertake a case management role in building engagement with students at risk.

**Responsibilities** include:

- Overseeing the continued development of School Wide Positive Behaviour Support into the College
- Actively promote and lead innovation in the areas of Teaching and Learning and Student connectedness within the College
- Lead the development of approaches and practices in empowering student in Resilience and Respectful Relationships
- Lead the development of approaches and practice in empowering both students and teachers with the necessary skills in Positive Education
- Overseeing/developing the Year 7 and 8 Positive Classrooms curriculum
- Oversight of Live Life Program
- Working directly with the Student Wellbeing leaders and the Mental Health Practitioner in the promotion of Positive Climate for Learning
- Work with the Director of Learning Positive Climate for Learning to embed a whole school approach for Positive Education with reference to College Values
- Working with the HPE Domain Leader to ensure alignment of Respectful Relationships in the curriculum
- Development and implement a Year 8 engagement and curriculum program and other programs as appropriate
- Case manage Middle Year Interventions with identified students in the Middle Years
- Middle Years engagement programs and approaches
- Develop, organise and implement the Peer Support Program including training for all Year 9 students
- Facilitate programs which support students to maintain a positive attitude towards school engagement eg: RAISE
- Be an active leader within our Professional Learning Communities approach
- Continue to work with teaching teams to embed the PLC initiative; undertaking responsibilities as required to meet identified goals
- Model and share teaching expertise in classrooms and professional learning sessions
- Attend relevant professional learning, including network meetings
- Other duties as directed by the Principal

**Responsibilities**:
In recognition of the importance of exemplary practice for improved student learning outcomes, the key roles of the Learning Specialists may include but are not limited to:

- Demonstrating high-level expertise in teaching and learning practice
- Modelling exemplary classroom practice including through teaching demonstration lessons
- Working with the school leadership team to develop a shared view of highly effective teacher practice
- Leading and modelling the implementation of whole-school improvement strategies related to curriculum planning and delivery
- Playing a key role in the provision of professional learning, including through developing processes and protocols for observation and feedback of teacher practice and peer collaboration
- Modelling effective learning practice and supporting teachers to seek, analyse and act on feedback and on their practice
