Aboriginal Health Liaison Officer

This is a great opportunity to join the team at MDHS who inspire health and are committed to creating a culturally safe organisation, whilst working in this fixed term position as the Aboriginal Hospital Liaison Officer MDHS has current focus on providing an organisational cultural sensitivity through a recently commenced a Reconciliation Action Plan. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting MDHS to provide culturally appropriate health care to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community through health promotion, education and help to access services.

- Relevant qualifications in health, community services or similar field would be an advantage
- Knowledge and understanding of aboriginal culture, society and kinship networks
- Ability to communicate with and be accepted by the aboriginal community
- Understanding of aboriginal health issues and priorities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

**Qualifications**:
- Significant experience in community or cultural development, organisational development or project management.
Technical/Professional Knowledge and skills
Well-developed computer and MS Office skills
Desirable
- Qualification in Community in Community Development or Aboriginal Health
- Understanding of local Aboriginal & Torres strait Islander community needs
- Experience in facilitating community and stakeholder activities and projects.
- Event organisation
- Report writing

- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written and well-developed customer service skills.
- Flexibility
Interpersonal Skills
- Ability to liaise with external organisations and provide advice in relation to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples and communities.
