**Experienced Flute Teacher**

**Commencing Term 3, 2024**

**Approx. 5-6 hours per week (initially)**

**About the Role**

Tintern Grammar is seeking an experienced, energised and enthusiastic flute teacher to commence in Term 3, 2024. The successful applicant should be willing to take on and build upon an existing tuition load of at least 5 hours per week of flute, tutoring students in Years 4 to 11. The successful applicant is expected to be organised, to make a positive contribution to the vibrant musical life of the school and work co-operatively as a member of our dynamic music teaching team. They will teach students on an individual basis, lead a flute ensemble and must be able to relate to students across a range of ages in both the Primary and Secondary sections of the school.

**About You**

The successful applicant will have proven experience teaching these instruments, will be able to demonstrate a high level of technical and performing ability, excellent communication and organisational skills. Current VIT Registration or a Working with Children Check is essential. There should be availability to build upon this load and increase it to a full day of teaching (and possibly more) in the future.

Teachers will be required to:

- Teach flute on an individual and possibly shared basis
- Potentially teach piano on an individual basis, if experienced
- Keep accurate attendance rolls
- Prepare students for performances and examinations
- Communicate regularly with parents and write ongoing assessment reports throughout the year (at least three per semester).
- Assist with tutorials for large ensembles from time to time as required
- Assist with preparation and presentation of events such as a Woodwind Concert, the Annual Music Concert, Small Ensembles Concert, Music Camp, and other performances as required
- Liaise with the Head of Instrumental Music concerning the maintenance of flutes
- Undertake other duties as determined by the Director of Music or Head of Instrumental Music
