Our Media Relations Manager protects and enhances the reputation of Suncorp Group, including brands AAMI and Suncorp Insurance. As part of the award-winning Corporate & Regulatory Affairs team they will deliver end-to-end integrated campaigns that tackle key business objectives. This includes supporting the Group’s key thought leadership and advocacy initiatives around making Australia more resilient to extreme weather.

The Media Relations Manager will also identify and manage the impact of potential reputation issues, with a general philosophy of “no surprises”. They will use their influencing and negotiation skills with senior internal and external stakeholders to drive outcomes for all stakeholders.

**What you’ll do**
- Develop and deliver end-to-end communications strategies, programs and integrated campaigns to meet corporate objectives, including the provision of effective counsel as required.
- Prepare communications materials including ASX/media releases, Q&A documents, issues briefs, Op-Eds, website copy etc.
- Support key corporate activity with media relations including calendar events such as Full and Half year Results, AGM and other updates.
- Assist with extreme weather event response as required, including national and local area activity.
- Manage issues and crises that may impact Suncorp Group’s reputation, including brand-related issues such as customer complaints.
- Develop clear media relations strategies to position Suncorp in the market as a successful trans tasman insurer and to enable business success.
- Evaluate effectiveness of all communications.

**What you’ll bring**
- Degree in communications/journalism/public relations/media studies or business-related discipline (**mandatory**)
- 8-10 years’ communications experience with extensive knowledge and understanding of communications principles, best practice and emerging trends and technologies
- Influencing skills
- PR/ Public Affairs consultancy, corporate in-house or political staffer experience preferred
- Knowledge of financial, legal, and regulatory frameworks as well as market and political dynamics and key business drivers
- Strong writing skills
